Large format scanning captures oversized originals, such as architectural plans, engineering drawings, site maps and posters, as digital files. Architects, contractors, surveyors, homeowners and community groups in Oakville, Mississauga and Burlington bring us rolls and sheets that will not fit on an office scanner.
Options and sizes
We can scan large sheets to digital files you can store, share and reprint. Ask us what sizes we can handle, since drawings come in many dimensions, including standard ANSI and ARCH sheets.
File formats include:
- PDF: the usual choice for plans and sets, easy to email and open
- TIFF: a high-quality format that suits archiving and detailed line work
- JPG: a smaller file for posters, photos and quick sharing
Resolution matters. Higher resolution captures finer detail but makes bigger files. For plans with thin lines and small text, a higher setting is often worth it. Tell us what you plan to do with the file, and we will suggest a sensible setting.

Tips for great results
Check the condition of your originals. Flatten any rolled sheets if you can, and tell us about tears, folds, stains or faded lines in advance. Fragile or very old originals need careful handling, so if yours are delicate, ask us how we would handle them before you bring them in.
Name your files clearly and keep the sheet order. Drawing numbers and dates make a scanned set easier to use later.
Keep a master copy as TIFF or a high-quality PDF and share smaller copies by email. Our article on why scan large format drawings covers the benefits in detail, and printing for contractors and architects shows how scans fit into a project. To find out how sheet sizes work, see ANSI and ARCH drawing sizes.
When you need a fresh paper copy, we can reprint through our blueprint printing service.
